Wow, it has been almost a month since I last sat here and entered anything on my blog. It has been a busy month. I have been working a lot. One of our large plant nurseries has asked me to work part time again, but I dont have many free consistent days to give. So we will see if they want me for “occasional” work. Valentine’s Day was nice. I made hubby a card….he loved it. I got a card from him and we went out to a really quaint B&B for dinner. Prime rib roast with all the fixings. Last Valentine’s we went there also. Could become a tradition.

I loved all the hoar frost we had this month and took a bazillion pictures. I really love, love, love hoar frost. This year it seems to be particularly thick on the trees.

I have also been doing some folkart painting. I am trying to make a lot of winter/Christmas stuff. Our local village has a Christmas craft sale and I am hoping to set up a table next Christmas. Seems so far away but it will be here before I am ready and I know I will be painting stuff at the last minute.

Here is another collection that I love, love, love, almost as much as my buttons. I had one of these when I was a lot younger but lost it somewhere or threw it out. When I saw my first one a few years ago I bought it at a thrift store. Since then I have been buying them and now have quite a collection. They are earring holders. I try not to buy duplicates which makes it a little more challenging. I was trying to explain what they were to a friend of mine and she looked at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. Here is my collection of about a dozen or more.

I also started collecting these little baby themed flower holders. I dont have very many of them. The little elephant is the one I received 32 yrs. ago when my son was born. The bink booties are from my daughter’s birth 28 yrs. ago. This is not a very serious collection. Sometimes I see one I really like and will buy it. I really like the baby chamber pot. This would probably be the first collection I would get rid of if I was going to get rid of any.

Here are some photos of the ensuite….a work in progress. Got rid of those 2 hideous mirrors (probably use them in garden). I love mirrors in the garden. I managed to salvage some of the blue tile (might do some mosaics for the garden)..I have about 6 unused sheets hidden. So here are a couple of pictures of the new..in progress…ensuite.

Now everyone that knows me knows that I have lots of “stuff”. I love collecting things. So I am going to start showing some of my collections (there are a lot). First, my favorite collection is Buttons.. I love buttons. They bring back many memories of playing and sorting buttons at my Baba’s house. They lived in a big two storey house and she had many button jars. The big canning jars. And even though she didnt realize it (I dont think), they were arranged in a place that the sun shone through the jars and made they look spectacular with all the different shapes and colors. So I started collecting buttons. I have them sorted by color in glass containers. However, I have favorites that are all in one jar. Here are just a few of my buttons. I have to sort through many more boxes.

How did I ever do it? I used to go to work, single mom with 2 kids, had a house and a big yard, take my kids to lessons in the evening and do housework (kind of) . Now I am lucky if I make supper after working for the last 2 weeks. Mind you I am a (little) bit older. So I have worked for the last 2 weeks and now am working for the next 2 days. I cant wait until Wed. ..going to get up , have my coffee sitting in my favorite chair and then put the rest of the Christmas stuff away…..yes, I still have a couple of things hanging around. Don’t get me wrong,,,, I love what I do but Hey, I retired 4 years ago. But it is my choice…. so I have no one to blame but myself.

Sad Time

Time to take the Christmas stuff down and put away for another year. It is a sad time but it has to be done. The rooms look so empty but never fear, I will fill them up again. I am going to concentrate on my painting and am planning to put my Christmas stuff in for a craft sale in our community next Christmas. I will keep you posted as I finish each project. That will be my incentive….to show whoever is interested each new article.

Even my cat is looking sad as I put away each thing but she has to investigate as they go in the box. At one point she was in the box and was daring me to get her out. Such a cutie-patootie….I love my cat…she has such a different personality from any cat I have ever owned.
